Otolaryngology Research
The Division of Otolaryngology is actively involved in research related to ear infections, sleep disordered breathing in children, cystic fibrosis, olfaction, and lymphatic malformations of the head and neck. Recently completed trials include a study of a topical medication for eczema of the ear and a trial investigating the benefits of an innovative coating on tympanostomy (ear) tubes. Within the next 6 months, the Division of Otolaryngology will be starting trials involving new techniques for repairing tympanic membrane perforations, evaluating sinus surgery for patients with cystic fibrosis and novel approaches for managing patients with neck masses.
